Project Burbage: From Patchy Chaos to Garden Showpiece

Welcome to Project Burbage — a garden transformation that proves what a bit of planning, the right materials, and a dash of creativity (plus a whole lot of elbow grease) can do. This garden was big, full of potential… but let’s just say it was more “what could be” than “what is”.

Here’s how we turned a mismatched outdoor space into a flowing, functional garden that’s as easy on the eyes as it is on the feet.

The Starting Point: Patchy, Mismatched and Underwhelming

Our client wanted a complete reset. The old garden had seen better days, so we went back to square one: excavation, with every bit of waste removed. Once cleared, we had a blank canvas to work with – and that’s where the fun began.

The Plan: Structure, Flow & Purpose

After a few mugs of tea and lots of planning with the client, we settled on a layout that made every inch of the garden work smarter — and look better.

Here's what went into the design:

A generous porcelain patio right outside the back doors, using sleek grey slabs with a curved, block-edged border that leads beautifully into the lawn.
A luscious new turf area sweeping in a curved path from the patio all the way up to the top of the garden — great for both aesthetics and play.
A new shed base tucked into the top-left corner, ready for storage without stealing the limelight.
The pergola? Reimagined. We relocated it to the top-right corner, dressed it up with built-in planters, added slatted baton fencing to one side for a modern finish, and gave it a much better stage to shine on.
Flower beds and decorative stonework finished off the edges, with vibrant planting space along the left-hand side just as the client envisioned.

The Transformation: Big Space, Big Impact

Porcelain patios are the crown jewel of modern gardens – sleek, durable, and easy to maintain. For Project Orchid, we installed a wraparound porcelain patio, edged with charcoal block “picture framing.” It gives that crisp, finished look where you don’t just see a patio… you see a statement.

We even wrapped porcelain around the front of the property too, instantly boosting kerb appeal. Let’s be honest – first impressions matter, and this house now gives off serious “I’ve got my life together” vibes.
